May 2002 – June 2002
Jimmy McGill’s job as a public defender is failing. Strapped for cash and feeling frustrated, he tries to take revenge on a potential client, leading him to cross paths with Nacho Varga and the Salamanca crime family.
At the same time, Mike Ehrmantraut begins getting involved with the Salamancas.
July 2002 - September 2002
Kim Wexler recommends Jimmy to the Davis & Main law firm, but the job doesn’t last long. That’s when Jimmy and Kim decide to start a private practice together.
However, things take a nasty turn when Jimmy’s brother, Chuck McGill, takes his own life, overwhelmed by pressure from Jimmy, causing Jimmy to lose his law license.
September 2002 - February 2003
Gus Fring enters the series and starts helping Mike in laundering money while trying to gain power over the Salamanca crime family.
Viewers get a glimpse of Gus’s backstory through flashbacks.
March 2003 - January 2004
Without a license to practice law, Jimmy starts working at a cell phone store. But an opportunity presents itself, giving him a second chance to work as a lawyer. Only this time, he changes his name to Saul Goodman, prepared to enter the world of crime.
Meanwhile, Gus Fring begins building his meth super-lab.
February 2004- May 2004
Jimmy transforms into Saul Goodman, dropping the good Samaritan act altogether. He reconnects with Mike and becomes a target of the deadly cartel leader, Lalo Salamanca.
Gur Fring continues to expand his drug empire.
June 2004
Under the Goodman persona, Jimmy masterminds a plan to bring down Howard Hamlin. By this time, Kim is an active part of all of Jimmy’s schemes.
Lalo decides to seek revenge against Gus Fring, but his plan backfires, resulting in his death at Gus’s hands.
January 2008- September 2010
Fast-forward four years to Breaking Bad’s first season. Audiences are introduced to Walter White, a science teacher who finds out he’s dying of cancer, and his former student Jesse Pinkman.
Over the the next two years, White, along with Pinkman turns into Heisenberg, a crystal meth manufacturer.
October 2010- November 2010
After Breaking Bad comes to an end, the story narrated through black-and-white flash-forwards in the final episodes of Better Call Saul fall into place.
Jimmy is seen hiding away as a fast food manager until he is finally caught and handed down a lengthy jail sentence for his crimes.
